Ok, the preview weekend is over. Let me say up front, if you hate PvP, don't go here. Nevermind that it is different than any PvP out there, it still needs the PvP for you to immerse yourself in the game. You can't kill your friends in either faction and it is truly RvR. The game would be lacking without it. BTW, party make up is just as important in RvR as it is in PvE. Ganking is not an issue.
Quests are unique and the PvE content is good, but, as they say, "It is all about the War". Read the lore, watch the latest trailer and read a bit. I would like to be able to describe it well for you, but, there aren't any games like it. I am sure it will be an aquired taste, for some. Others will like it right away. Check out this link.

I see this as the norm in describing the game. Even PCGamer had to struggle with impression.
I have paid for it, so I will be here for a while at least. Things that may not appeal besides PvP? No guild halls, housing or the like. You can however conquer a keep, as a guild.
Crafting is very different from other games. More like trades really. There won't be weapons and armor from the trades. They are meant to enhance and support the war. You will just have to try it to see if you like it. I believe they are waiting to develop this further, as the game matures. This is a likely area of additional content.
Speaking of content, I was only able to make a few characters of any significant level. 18, 11, 6, 6 and 5. I tried all the basic classes. They all have a good progression and I found all of them fun to play. I only had 25 hours of play time. I didn't play the dwarf tank as that is what I will play at release, or the Dwarf priest. The take on the classes is very unique.
The graphics are middle ground. I like that. I am tired of the "state of the art" graphics engine in an MMO. They are more state of the broken in my opinion. It is equivalent to EQ2 or above, not as simple as WoW but definately not Vanguard.
Well that is the short of it. You will have to try it to really understand it. It may not be for everyone. It requires you to play together with someone. Even if that someone is the other members of Order or Destruction.

Vince sums it up quite well. Take DAoC's RvR and mesh it with more traditional MMO PvE.
Played this weekend a good bit, tried most of the classes to around 7, and the Warrior-Priest to 15. Really loved the WP class, a healer that can brawl, depending on how you gear it and spec it you should be able to tailor it to taste. The Rune Priest is defiantly a better healer, but squishy. Didn't try the Archmage, but it seems they'll be squishy too (with more DPS than the Rune Priest). There's really a class or build for everyone in this game. |

First let me make it abundantly clear, no one has to go to Warhammer. We will likely be Order, as that is the way of the Refugee, usually. It also looks like Order will need the bodies. A lot of Destruction guilds already out there.
Both classes are a blast Bull. We might run a Shadow Refugees group on another server to give people change of pace time as well. We are really looking at numbers to decide if we want to open a chapter. I was really just on a scouting mission. If enough people wish to play we will support the chapter.

I know you all don't know me so well because I just joined but if Conan doesn't pan out for me then I'll be (ZOMG!) sans an MMO.
So, I've been looking WAR over and here's the thing: I enjoy group PvP, but I despise 1v1 PvP. I'm just not very good at it, and don't aspire to be. That being said, even being the mostly PvE Carebear I am, I might enjoy Warhammer as long as I join the fray. The White Lion and the Witch Hunter appeal to me. I would do the Warrior Priest, but I don't really identify with the premise behind the class (I like to pick a class that fits me). So, I guess I have some thinking to do. |

Anger,
as one of the leaders of Refugees I feel compelled to spell this out in no uncertain terms for you: so what that you just joined us - you're a Refugee. *If* we open a Warhammer chapter, you WILL be most welcome alongside THE TEAM. You're already quickly acquitting yourself within the AoC chapter my friend, so don't worry about 'how long' you've been here: just rest in the knowledge that we're all glad you decided to join us in the first place! I look forward, as I am sure all the Refugees do, of getting to know you better...especially alongside you in battle...:-) |

I appreciate the kind words.
Just to tell you where I'm coming from, I know what it's like to have new recruits in MMO's. At one point in time, I was a Guild Leader in the 7th largest guild on my WoW server (Arthas). I'm not trying to brag because being a guild leader is thankless, grueling work. But, my point is that I've dealt with all kinds of drama and I know what that's like, and I want to be the last one to cause drama. IMHO a game should be as stress-free as possible. That's what makes them fun, the escapist aspect of it all. So if I am trigger-shy from the get-go you must forgive me because I have seen recruits come into a new guild and be bold enough to start asking for gold and listing a laundry-list of "their needs". I don't want to be that guy. I want to contribute to the Greater Good and see us all succeed in this game. What you say assures me that I have chosen the right guild, and bolsters my loyalty to it. I look forward to catching up to you fine people and continuing our progression through this game and perhaps others. See you online.

WOW!! Anger you my friend are a perfect fit with the refugees. You will learn that drama while it does happen it has never lasted long. I have been with the refugees since the days of lineage II and can only remember 1 time that drama was an issue. We all have RL's and the last thing any of us wants is stress in this realm
I hope to see you online tonight and go kill some stuff ![]() DT ![]() |

As a matter of fact, I find that Haggis is best consumed along with powdered-box Macaroni and Cheese, Spam cubes, and countless miniature bottles of Peppermint Schnapps. Boone's Wine is always a good substitute for the Schnapps if you like. Just what every growing boy needs.

There is no one on one pvp in War, unless you get caught by yourself. The game is not designed that way. We have been a guild that stays away from most pvp, not because we are care bears, but, rather, that we don't like the pwn/uber mentality.
Enjoy yourself and play the game you want. Refs has room for you any where you hang your hat.

BTW, haggis is what the runt of the litter eats, after the rest of the pack has eaten the nice cuts from the mutton.

Alright, so I've seen some reviews and vids of this game and now I'm excited. I pre-ordered the game this morning.
I go on vacation for the weekend of the 18th however so I'll be behind in leveling again (that's always my fate for some reason). But I would like to join you fine people once I have it installed and ready to go. See you online.

As long as you have your open beta and head start keys you should be able to get a bit of leveling done before the 18th, Anger. Fileplanet has the open beta client for download.

I am really at an impasse. I can't decide if I want to roll a Dwarf Engineer (Tinkerer) or a Warrior Priest. UGH THE DECISIONS!!!!!! I will roll both but don't know if I want my Refugee to be a Hybrid Healer or a Hybrid DPS'er.
