That's one of the things I'm happy about, my laptop should be able to support it. If they'd ever come out with a mac version then the desktop would run it beautifully. :/

Use Bootcamp, it works great. Doug plays on his Mac all the time.

Been talking to one or two ppl who are in the closed beta team and they said it is comparable to WoW's graphics 4 to 5 years ago. They also said the content is pretty bad as well.

PS... Oh, and the game doesn't come with the best feature in any game: me smile

Just wanna chime in here on this note. The game looks as good (if not better in some regards but looks are subjective).

Content-wise it's hard to compare them...yes they both have very similar elements in some regards but where WoW is about an epic story spanning the globe and how each race is getting along since the major battles that wracked the planet WAR is about that war...the war is raging all around you and the elements that you have a hand in, in all aspects of gameplay, PvE, PQs, RvR, Dungeons has something to do with that war. They are all tied together. Your running around doing quests has a direct effect on how much easier it is for the RvR folks to raid an area and thier taking battlefield objectives effects the players not RvRing.

Content-wise it's pretty full. Tons of greatly written quests and a fairly large world to explore. They took a page out of CoH's book and added in an achievment system for doing various things in the world. In addition the Tome of Knowledge fills in the little bits of back story for almost everything so if you are into plot and story such as me you get a kick out of knowing these things.

One more note on the graphics...because it's in beta they are not up to the best setting yet but even then I feel the place looks a ton better than WoW ever did (and I liked the cartoony look of WoW). Once the game goes live it'll defiantely look better.

(Been in the Beta for a little while which is why I left AoC beyond other issues)

Heh...had to look up that word...I don't normally have to look up words but that one I did...

Disclaimer: I was in no way trying to sway anyone away from AoC...while I liked the game for the most part I personally had issues with how "Complete" it is at this stage and may very well pick it back up again down the road.

Now that being said, I will willfully share the info of where to find me in WAR once it is in the headstart period (Server name and faction...which will most likely be a RP server and Chaos) if anyone is curious...

Warhammer is very engaging. It works, which is more than I can say for a bunch of games lately. The number of people playing in the preview is unbelievable. I assume this is really a stress test. I have encounterd competition for mobs, but, I have seen no lag whatsoever. The storylines and public quests are very good and the apposing forces don't really seem like PVP. The whole RVR thing is very nice, to my surprise. You are definately part of the story from tbe beginning. I will give you more than a first impression tomorrow.

Well, I like the Ref's thus far and, if the bulk of us are going to take time away from AoC to get thier act together, then I wanna come too !! When I get back I will be on AoC as well but, to be frank, there isn't much to do now on that game. If most of us are going to stay on AoC then I will respect that but if some of us are going to be in WH as well, then I was figuring we could all do as Harm said and decide what server, faction, etc we wanna be in.

PS...Rose is a hawtee !!

Bull, et al;

realizing that several of you are still relatively new to Refugees, I should probably clear a couple of things up which this thread has brought to mind:

1) Refugees has a longstanding policy of being a multi-game guild
- We have had chapters of the guild running simultaneously in multiple games
- We have closed one chapter in order to open another

2) Refugees is setup with a command structure which allows for alot of this
- This is why we have a Grand High Council (overseeing the entire guild) *and* a Council of Elders (Officer Corps in individual games)

3) Phil is one of the 3 existing Guild Leaders
- Vince to most of you 'new guys', Fernmug to most of the 'old-timers'
- Along with myself and Anthony (Nittering/Grimbil/Bjal)

4) Phil (along with several other Refugees, both current and past) are 'advance scouting' right now
- Before we decide to open ANY new chapter, we usually have at least one GL, a couple members of the GHC and some regular members advance scout then provide feedback on a game as to whether or not it is a good fit for us. Nefchast Saryss is also an example of this, as Nef was literally the 4th guy in Refugees, nearly 7 years ago. He can always be counted on to go check out the 'latest games' and come tell us whether or not they're any good/a good fit for us.

5) Before we would 'pull the plug' on AoC we would discuss it at both the CoE level AND in a guild-wide meeting for that entire chapter where EVERYONE could express their thoughts/desires about closing the chapter
- I don't think we're at this point yet, but the current AoC CoE and I *have* discussed it as a possibility. A LOT will depend on the general membership in the next few weeks.

In case any of you missed it, I am a firm believer in communicating. (Phil will most likely respond to this post, summarizing everything I have said in about 4 words.) I just believe we're all adults, we all choose to spend out time together, and you guys are entitled to know where the guild leadership stands on things.

And obviously, if ANY of you has specific questions you'd like answered about any of this, PLEASE do NOT hesitate to come ask me in game, send me a PM here on the forums, or IM me on my yahoo account (imajicaanmaestro@yahoo.com) which is posted in several places here on the site for the entire membership to use.

And while we're at it:

OTHER GAMES WE'RE WATCHING IN DEVELOPMENT

Aion
Stargate Worlds
Star Trek Online
Earthrise
Champions

and the ever-present (read vaporware)
Darkfall

Hope that helps.

In other words, stand by, don't make any rash decisions. Ten words Mike.

In all seriousness. I am just looking around. As Harm has pointed out. The game is much more polished than you may have heard. I will give the guild a full report in the near future. Please don't assume since I am playing it that we are in mass exodus. There are some long term members that are looking for something different than AoC offers, so as Co-GL it behoves me to take a look. We have run simultaneous chapters a number of times so that may happen, but, nothing is set.
